22nd of June, Zandvoort Tri-Oval.

This was the first Nascar race in the Netherlands ever, and the home-race for manu 3h2-cup drivers.
Like our own loved and praised drivers: Edwin K. and Sjoerd v. M. Also it was a home-run-race for T.v.Onselen, who took the pole, and, seemed to win the race at first. It wasn't quite an exciting race at first, because the last mentioned driver drove away from all the rest of the drivers, incuding the Edwin and Sjoerd Racing drivers, and seemed to be heading for a clean victory. All of this changed though, when something remarkeble happened. A police car, spotted earlier standing "camouflaged" in the side of the track, suddenly began to drive like mad, and overtook the leader, showing him a stop sign. Van Onselen, completely stunned, did as he was told, and was guided out of his car, and had to give his driver-licence to the policemen. They also took his car into custedy, but it will be released after further interrogation. Van Onselen himselve commented: "Something like this can only happen in Holland, I mean, were else would they pull you over for speeding on a race track??". He hopes to have his car and driver-licence back for the next race. However, during this all, the race continued, and, with the dominant leader out of the race, this suddenly opened a lot of doors for the drivers battling for 2nd place. And that includes our very own Edwin Kragten. After a lot of overtaking and batlling over 1st place, Edwin came out being the leader. Too bad he lost control over his car, and flew of the track, taking 23 cars with him as he went. This, ofcourse, caused a caution-situation, in which Sjoerd van Marrewij turned out to be driving in front. After 5 laps of yellow, the green flag was waved for the last 20 laps. In these laps Sjoerd wasn't quite able to defend his first place, but he did turn out 3rd. So that's a podium position and a wreck for Edwin and Sjoerd Racing this second summer day. We hope to see you at the next race.
